In all our digging we found this bizarre case of Gerald Mayo, who filed a class action lawsuit in the Western District of Pennsylvania against Satan “and his staff.” What?
Is that even possible? Well apparently you can file a suit and try to sue whomever you want, but doesn’t mean it will go anywhere.
According to the suit, “Satan has on numerous occasions caused plaintiff misery and unwarranted threats, against the will of plaintiff, that Satan has placed deliberate obstacles in his path and has caused plaintiff’s downfall” and “deprived him of his constitutional rights.”
The court wasn’t about to bite on this crazy lawsuit. They rejected the suit for several reasons including the fact that the plaintiff had failed to include the required forms. Including filling out how the court was to get in touch with Satan to let him know he was being sued. You can only guess as to why that form was left unfilled out. The court also stated that there was question as to whether Satan would even be bound by U.S. law.
So as I sit and think about this ridiculous lawsuit it makes me wonder what other stupid lawsuits are out there? Is someone suing Mother Earth for too much rain? Or Poseidon for the latest Tsunami? Then that spurred more thoughts about deities and supernatural beings not bound by the laws and even the physics of our world. But I won’t open that can of worms. One could go nuts considering the philosophical possibilities of all those…well…possibilities.
