We had the amazing opportunity to interview the woman behind Depechegurl! She is definitely one of our favorite makeup artists. We even asked her, what her worst nightmare was and her biggest fears! Check it out.
We all know you, or actually your lips as Depechegurl. But what’s your real name? Christina Parga
Married, kids, ages? Happily Unmarried to my soul mate of 10 years, Kevin Carson. I have 2 wonderful boys, Christian (17), and Jayden (9).
If you are willing to tell us, how old are you? 37 (I’m old, lol) But, I’m happy I lived and grew up during my favorite and in my opinion, the best decades – 80’s and the 90’s.
How’d you get started in the makeup industry? I loved make up so much so I decided to delve into doing some freelance work. I worked on my craft for about 3 years until I felt comfortable putting make up on others – even though I still did it in my early teens.
When did Depechegurl really take off? Very soon after I had just started which was the end of July/early August of 2013. It took about a month to get my first thousand and it just took off from there.
What’s the most exciting thing you’ve done in the makeup field? Collaborating with NYX Cosmetics and also having my work on their front window displays as well as inside their stores.
Any famous people you have worked with? I have been approached several times but have chickened out. I tend to limit myself.
What inspires your makeup ideas? Depeche Mode and music in general, after all, it is my first and true love. I am also inspired by Runway Shows (mostly the dark and weird ones), Editorial work, Drag Queens, Nature, and other MUA’s I look up to, ahem… Pat McGrath, The Alex Box, and The Val Garland to name a few.
Are you making a living doing this? Yes, I am, especially with Lip Swatches.
Do you have a dark side? Yes, very much so! Anything creepy, strange, and unusual draws me in and catches my attention. It ignites inspiration within and sparks up that drive I have inside. I enjoy all things dark, especially the dark arts and dark music. Also, dark decor, fashion, and make up.
What’s the worst nightmare you’ve ever had? That I was “basic” lol
How would you describe your own personal style? “Dressed In Black” would be the best description and the 80’s & 90’s version and style of Goth. My wardrobe consists of Doc Marten’s, Creepers, Band/Concert Tee’s, Leggings, black jewlery, and cross necklaces.
Do you wear makeup every day, even when home? No, I like to let my skin breathe from time to time.
What’s your biggest fear? Public Speaking and teaching a course in make up! Yikes!
What is at the top of your bucket list? To meet Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode! I’ve met my tortured soul mate Martin L. Gore of Depeche Mode 3 times already.
Sum up your life’s motto in one sentence. “Work hard, stay humble.”
Anything you want to say or promote? I would like to give a shout out to my brand Cryptic Cosmetics that will be launching this summer! It’s my baby that I’ve enjoyed creating for the past 2 ½ years. #GothicSummer Also, I created and will be launching a “depechegurl” everyday liquid matte lipstick in collaboration with the SoLa Look, also releasing this summer.
I am so glad I had the opportunity to interview the woman behind Depechegurl makeup. She is quite an amazing woman. A little timid, a little dark and absolutely chic and fabulous!

Your work is absolutely flawless. And gorgeous, just gorgeous. If I could give you a "stop chickening out" pill I would. You are a star - own it!
