I walked up the dark, steep, narrow, staircase to the tower in the Bran Castle. Each step closer to the top I felt heavier. Like I was carrying bags of sand. Something about this part of the castle was different. Something was off. Spooky.
When I got to the top and walked around the tower room high above the castle, I felt a presence. Something dark, lurking in the shadows, watching me. The room was completely lit up, it was the middle of day, it was a small room, but I didn’t feel alone. The shadows seemed to move the wrong way. I don’t know how to explain it, but it was other worldly.
Bran Castle, made famous for Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, Dracula is for sale. The fortress in Romania is listed for $66 million and has 57 bedrooms, along with an amazing view of the valley.
A Romanian Prince named Vlad Dracu whom we call Vlad the Impaler was the person that inspired the novel, Dracula. Vlad Dracu once lived or stayed in this castle for a period of time.
I did a road trip through Transylvania, Romania following in the tracks of Vlad Dracu. It was one of my favorite adventures. My third book in the Trinity Heart Series even incorporates a lot of my trips adventures.
Back to the castle that is for sale. It is definitely amazing and it seems like a castle with a lot of secrets. I imagined pulling up some of the wood floor and finding little treasure boxes with items from it’s medieval, bloody past.
So if you have a cool $66 million lying around and love history and castle’s with a past, then this is the new abode for you. And if you do happen to purchase it, look me up because I would love to come stay with you for a spell. 🙂
