Many sightings have told of a bat-like, hairy Sasquatch that flies above Mount St Helens in Washington state. The description of the beast is that from children’s nightmares or horror stories.
Those who have seen it describe the creature with purple skin and piercing red eyes. Massive leather wings and sharp dagger claws at the end of the bony fingers. It’s face is like a gorilla and it growls.
The first sightings were in the 1980’s and it has been seen occasionally since then. Farmers around the area keep their small livestock and family pets indoors as there have been feedings from the surrounding areas. I mean, every animal has to eat and its a bat-eat-dog kinda world near Mount St Helens apparently.
The local Native American tribes have many tales going back centuries of this creature carrying away the souls of their children.
So the big question is, real or fake?
Well, read a couple of the stories of the sightings and you decide for yourself.
1980, the creature was first seen when the Mountain erupted. It emerged from the cloud of smoke and ash. Everyone assumed it must have been living inside and the eruption brought it out into the open.
In 1994, a mountaineer named Butch Whitaker was scaling the mountain when an eerie sound came from a ledge a hundred feet overhead. He saw a creature which he described as something from your nightmares. He got out his camera and snapped a couple photos. The figure is fuzzy, but it does show a large purple creature of sorts overhead.
In 1995, a second climber encountered the flying monster. He said the creature flew across the road and was struck by a speeding semi. A few moments later a second creature swooped down and carried the injured creature away. Guess there is more than one…and they are breeding.
In Africa, there is a creature that has been sighted looking similar to the Batsquatch. It’s skin a little more red in tint, but it is the same none-the-less and swoops down in the eve of night and takes off with small sheep and animals.
2009, two people were hiking around the mountain and out of a crevice a huge creature, stocky, with leathery wings. He flew right over the top of the hikers who were scrambling to get their cameras out. They claimed he had the head of something like a bat or a fox. He flew into the trees and vanished.
Brian Canfield claims to have have a close encounter with the Batsquatch. He says his engine died and his truck came to a stop. He saw the feet, descending. Bird feet. Claw feet. Then the legs, torso and chest and the wings folded. The creature was none feet tall, with a blueish tint to his fur. It stood perfectly still in the middle of the road. Then it flew off into the night towards Mount St Helens. His car started and he drove away as fast as he could.
There are several more “sightings” and a couple ones that have been actually proven fake.
So, what do you think? Is it possible that a weird creatures emerged from the ash of Mount Saint Helen in 1980 and have been haunting the area ever since?
