Just over 200 graves were found dating back to the Anglo-Saxons around 1,300 years ago. The first 150 graves were discovered in Bulford and another site was found 7 miles away with an additional 55 graves.
Finding these graves pushes back the settlement dates about 300 years earlier than 975. The bodies found included men, women and children and there are a wealth of artifacts as well.
One of the bodies found is of a man who was buried with his sword and shield. Another woman was found buried with many valuable aritfacts like a bronze jewelry, a bone comb and a bronze box. Experts believe this means she was a woman of high status.
The burial grounds were found by accident.
