I am a huge fan of Chihuly. Every time I enter a foyer and see a beautiful Chihuly piece I am taken aback by the beauty and sheer awesomeness of his creativity. I usually stop and just admire the quarky, randomness and use of light while the rest of my friends keep walking.
I’ve always said art is extremely personal. One person can create something from within the depths of their soul and another person can be touched just as deeply by viewing it. It’s a magical connection that only art can create.
I’ve painted pieces before and seen people weep while viewing my pieces. My art touched them in a personal way that only they can understand. I find this transcendence of emotion between two strangers: the artist and the viewer, powerful.
I feel this way about Chihuly’s work. I want to lay on the floor and soak up his art as the sun moves throughout the day, casting a different look on his pieces until it’s completely dark and the piece is then lit artificially. Call me crazy…but your looking at one of his true fans. 🙂
